High-Capacity, Small-Footprint Screening
The Kascade screening deck for circular vibrating separators is designed to maximize screening throughput. This feature can be especially beneficial in solids-solids separation and dewatering applications where floorspace restrictions apply. Compared to standard circular vibrating sifters of equivalent diameters, Kason VIBROSCREEN Circular Vibratory Screeners with Kascade decks can increase screening capacity by 60-160%.
Real-World Challenge: Separating Fines at High Rates When Floorspace is Limited
Maple Leaf Mills needed an efficient, high-capacity screening solution to separate fines from animal feed pellets and crumbs. Removal of fines is especially challenging when screening animal feed at high rates.
The catch? They were limited to just eight feet of available floorspace in their Komoka, ON, animal feed manufacturing plant.
They had considered industrial screening equipment from a variety of manufacturers: circular vibratory separators, rectangular screeners, and centrifugal sifters. After careful consideration, Plant Manager Robert Douglas purchased a K72-SS 72” diameter Kason VIBROSCREEN circular vibratory separator, as recommended by Kason’s Canadian affiliate, Separator Engineering LTD.
Screening fines at high rates within a confined area wasn’t an issue for the Kason VIBROSCREEN. To carry out the goal of sorting fines from pellets at high rates, two Kascade screening decks were installed on the circular vibrating sieve: one top Kascade deck equipped with a screen with 0.141” openings, and a bottom Kascade deck with a 10 mesh (0.074”) screen.
This smaller-footprint, high-capacity solution easily achieved the client’s throughput target, efficiently separating animal feed at a rate of 120 metric tons in a 16-hour day.
Kascade high-quality stainless steel screening decks are offered in diameters ranging from 40” (1016mm) to 72” (1829mm), either as one of Kason’s many design enhancements for new VIBROSCREEN circular separators, or as part of Kason’s lineup of aftermarket parts and replacement screens for circular vibratory screeners. The Kascade can be installed on Kason screeners and other makes and models of circular vibrating sieves.
Finishes are available to meet 3A, FDA, USDA, BISCC, and other sanitary standards. Up to three conventional screens can be fitted with Kascade internal recycle decks to achieve rates upwards of 100 tons per hour (91 tonnes per hour).
